Ty Masterson, Kansas Senate President, shared a series of messages on social media in early April 2026. His posts addressed religious observances and recent legislative activity.
On April 3, Masterson posted a Good Friday reflection: “This Good Friday, we solemnly reflect upon God’s deep love for us all, as He went to the cross to pay the ultimate price for our sins. May we all remember His sacrifice and love daily as we interact with one another in life.”
Two days later, on April 5, he extended Easter greetings: “He is risen! I hope you and your families have a wonderful Easter as we all celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. God bless you!”
On April 6, Masterson highlighted legislative developments concerning campus free speech: “This session, we passed the KIRK Act (CCR 2333), one of the strongest campus free speech bills in the nation, with veto-proof supermajorities. It will honor Charlie Kirk’s legacy and protect all student’s ability to express their ideas freely on every college campus across the” The KIRK Act (CCR 2333) was described by Masterson as legislation designed to strengthen protections for student expression at colleges statewide.
Kansas has seen ongoing debates over free speech policies at public universities in recent years. Efforts such as the KIRK Act aim to address concerns about academic freedom and student rights within higher education institutions.
