Virtual Career Fair to Highlight In-Demand Jobs in Health Care
“Workforce challenges can be found in all industries. In health care, that includes those who work directly with patients to those who provide laboratory services – as well as those who support them both behind the scenes,” said Kansas Chamber President and CEO Alan Cobb. “This virtual career fair will give students and educators from around the state a chance to learn about in-demand jobs in health care without leaving their classrooms.”
The virtual career day will take students “inside” Kansas hospitals for a first-hand look into what it is really like to be a health care professional. They will watch career-focused videos featuring those who provide care to patients and participate in question and answer sessions that will engage them in real world learning.
“There are so many great careers in health care, each one making a difference,” said Kansas Hospital Association President and CEO Chad Austin. “We are so excited to highlight health care careers, as these are some of the most respected, exciting, rewarding and fulfilling careers one can have. There’s never been a better time to choose a career in health care.”
There is no costs for students and schools to register for the career fair. It is open to all grade levels.
“Our KansansCan vision includes having an individual plan of study for each student, beginning no later than 8thgrade. Career exploration is a critical piece of the education. We want students to ‘try on’ careers before they graduate high school to find the one that sparks their passion. Then, we can help them begin to build their path forward,” said KSDE Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson. “The Kansas Health Care Career Fair is a great example of how this can be accomplished when industries and schools partner for students. We are proud to help host this important event.”
This statewide, virtual event also offers hospitals and other health care providers as well as state universities and tech colleges the opportunity to raise their brand awareness among the thousands of students, educators, and career counselors expected to attend.
