About 32.4 percent of the 1,437 degrees and certificates handed out by Washburn University in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Topeka conferred 243 bachelor's degrees and 119 certificates in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies. Data shows the school gave out 148 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies, followed by 140 bachelor's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse and 101 doctor's degrees in law.

The university enrolled 6,571 students for 2017-18, including 5,719 in undergraduate programs and 852 in graduate programs.
