Scott County ranked second in state for resident earnings in 2017

Scott County ranked second among counties in Kansas by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Scott County residents was an inflation-adjusted $36,518 per year. Scott County had 2,105 households in 2017, with a population of 4,981.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Johnson County. Johnson County's median income was $40,199 per year after adjusting for inflation – $3,681 more than Scott County. It had 224,248 households in 2017 and a population of 578,797.

Crawford County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Kansas, with a median income of only $20,585 per year. That was $15,933 less than the median income in Scott County at the time. Crawford County had 14,974 households in 2017 and a population of 39,099.
